App and Purpose
8 Moments, also referred to within the app as Momentum - 8 Minute Reset, is a wellness and self-reflection app. It supports users with reflection questions, a journal, focus tracking, daily impulses, favorites and personal settings.
The app does not replace medical, psychotherapeutic, legal or any other professional advice. In case of acute danger, suicidal thoughts or a medical emergency, users should immediately contact local emergency services.
Data Processed
- Account data such as email address, sign-in provider and technical authentication data
- Profile data such as name, year of birth, zodiac sign, goal, reason for use and preferred reset time
- Personalisation data from the optional mood check: your chosen companion path and a derived mood state, both computed locally from your selections
- App content such as journal entries, answers, day ratings, thought notes, focus tracking and favorites
- Companion chats when you use the optional AI companion (internally called "Mutmacher") - these are stored in the database for cross-device sync
- Settings such as theme, advertising, personalisation and local app options
- Promo code redemptions: to prevent multiple redemptions, an entry with the code label and timestamp is stored
- Subscription status when an active Plus subscription exists
- Technical data such as device information, connection data and error reports, as required for operation and security
- Advertising data such as the advertising identifier and AdMob data when advertising is enabled in the app
- AI input data such as mood, reflection text and chat history when you activate the optional AI companion
Services and Recipients
Supabase is used for sign-in, user accounts and data storage. Google OAuth may be used for sign-in with Google. Apple Sign In may be used for sign-in with your Apple ID. Google AdMob may be used for advertising if advertising is enabled in the app. For the optional AI companion we use Anthropic (provider of the Claude AI model); your inputs are transmitted to servers in the United States.
Processing takes place to operate the app, to sync data, to protect user data, to provide support and to comply with legal obligations.
Storage and Protection
Signed-in users store their data per user account in Supabase. Database access rules are intended to ensure that users can only read and modify their own data. In addition, data may be stored locally on the device so that the app loads faster and remains usable when there are connectivity issues.
Advertising and Consent
The app may contain advertising. Advertising and personalised advertising can be controlled in the app's settings. Personalised advertising is only used if users explicitly allow it. On iOS, this is governed by Apple's App Tracking Transparency framework.
AI Companion
The app optionally provides a "Companion" - short encouraging messages as well as ongoing conversations. This feature is disabled by default and only becomes active if you explicitly enable it in the app's settings.
If you use it, the words you enter (mood, reflection text, chat history) are transmitted to Anthropic, the provider of the Claude AI model, and processed there to generate the response. The transmission goes to servers in the United States. According to the provider, content sent via the programming interface (API) is not used to train models.
So that your chats remain available after a device change, chat history is also synchronised to your user account in Supabase. Access rules ensure that only you can read your own chats.
The companion serves only motivational purposes and is not medical, psychological or therapeutic advice. If your input indicates a crisis, the app instead shows references to professional help.
Promo Codes
The app offers a hidden input field where users can redeem promotional codes for Plus features. When redeeming, the database stores which code was redeemed by which user and at which time, in order to prevent multiple redemptions and to enforce code limits.
Retention and Deletion
User data is stored as long as the account exists or the data is needed for app functionality. Users can delete their account and associated data within the app. A public guide is also available at Delete account and data.
Your Rights
Users may request information, correction, deletion, restriction of processing and data portability, to the extent provided for by law. Requests can be sent to sup-moment@outlook.com.
